Taking Refuge to the Imposter
The Buddha made discourse on taking refuge to the imposter and the truth
refuge, analytically, after becoming Buddha.
The Buddha expounded in the text of the paLi canon of Dhammapada;
Netamkho saranam khemam.
Netam sarana muttamam.
Netam sarana mAgamma.
Sabbadukkha muccati. (2) 3
“Such
a refuge is not a safe refuge, not the best refuge. One is not
liberated from all evil consequences of existence (dukkha) for having
come to such a refuge.” According to above the Buddha’s speech, it is
very important not to rely on,
not to worship to the
Refuge what is can not give the peace of all suffering. At the present
time, the most Buddhists thought and take refuge to the persons, such as
the gods, the king of the Devas, the persons with supernatural powers.
It should not cover the Buddha’s statues and images with the bananas of
godsand offertory consisting of hands of bananas and coconut. It should
be make therespect and sharing universal love to the persons, who
belief one selves, after remembering and missing them, cause of
meritorious deeds or good actions. But, it will be happen a danger, if
pay respect and refuge the gods, king of the Devas, the person with
super natural powers (Vijja), the alchemist who possesses super natural
powers, SurassatI, Boetaw and so on, together with the three refuges.
The Buddha said taking refuge to those persons is not the truth refuge,
as is not the refuge what is can not give a peace from all troubles. We
can not liberate from the suffering from the round of rebirth of the
cycle of death and birth (SaMsarA)∗ by taking refuge to those persons.
For the Buddhists or man, taking refuge to those persons can not get
benefits on the present life and future life. It causes us the suffering
in the present life, and will doom to a state of downfall in future
life.
In the present time, the most Buddhists used
to take refuge to those persons. It is not good for the Buddhists who
are take refuge to them, because it is not the truth and noble refuge.
So, men should take refuge to the truth and noble to get benefits in
their daily live.
