Taking the Truth Refuge

Taking the Truth Refuge!
In this world, every religion has its own concept of what is regarded to be the goal of spiritual life. For some religions, eternal life in heaven or paradise with the Lord is the final goal. For some the ultimate aim in life is the union of universal consciousness, because it is believed that life is a unit of consciousness and it must return to the same original consciousness. Some religions believe that the ending of suffering or repeated birth and death is the final goal. For others, even heavenly bliss or union with Brahma (creator) is secondary to the uncertainty of existence, no matter, whatever form it takes. And there are even some who believe that the present life itself is more than enough to experience the aim of life.
To attain the desired goal, every religion offers a method. Some religions ask their followers to surrender to God or depend on God for everything. Others call for stringent asceticism as the means of purging oneself of all evil through self mortification. Some others recommend the performance of animal sacrifices. And many kinds of rises and rituals as well as the recital of mantras for their purification to gain the final goal. There is yet another which upholds diverse methods and devotions, intellectual realization of truth, and concentration of the mind through meditation.
Each religion has a different concept of punishment for evil deeds. According to some religions, man is doomed forever by God for his transgressions in this one life. Some others say that action and reaction (cause and effect) operate due to natural laws and the effect of a deed will only be experienced for a certain period. Some religions maintain that this life is only one of so many, and a person will always have a chance to reform himself in stages until he finally evolves to attain the goal of Supreme Bliss.
Given such a wide variety of approaches, interpretations and goals of different religions adopted by mankind, it is useful for people not to hold dogmatic views about their religion but to be open to and tolerate of other religious views.
   The Buddha said: ‘one must not accept my teachings from reverence, but first try them as gold is tried by fire.’ The lord (Buddha) said, concerning with taking refuge to the real truth;
         Yoca buddhanca dhammanca.
         samghanca saranam gato.
         cattari ariyasaccani.
         sammappannaya passati.
         dukkhan dukkhasamuppadam.
         Dukkhassa ca atikkamam.
         ariyam athangammaggam.
         dukkhupa samagaminam: (3)1
“One who takes refuge in the Buddha, the Dhamma and Samgha, sees with Magga• insight the Four Noble Truths, viz, dukkha, the Cause of Dukkha, the Cessation of Dukkha, and the Noble Path of Eight Constituents which leads to the Cessation of Dukkha.” In fact, taking refuge to the Three Refuges trusty is free from gangers and gets the benefits of both present life and future life. And then, the gods, king of the Devas, the persons with super natural powers, the alchemist who possesses super natural powers will look after, help and protect the persons who take refuge to the Three Gems, cause of they also take refuge to the Three Gems respectively.
The king of the Devas, frightened extensively, when he realizes he is going to pass away, and he approach to the Buddha, and listen to the discourses of the Buddha, and then, when he is listening to the discourse by the Buddha, pass away, and he was born back in the celestial world as a the king of the Devas immediately.
Therefore, who make to become a king of the Devas? The answer “The Buddha” is. So, don’t take refuge the king of the Devas beyond the Buddha. Especially, it will be ruined, if you meet with the foolish king of the Devas. I want to tell, here, a story of about a trader’s family. There is a house of two traders’ wife and husband in a village. They have a beautiful and clever daughter. Their daughter died at sixteen years. Then, her mother was very sorrowful cause of her daughter died. After that, mother goes to the cemetery bringing snacks and put on her daughter’s cave, and weeps loudly. In that cemetery, an opium smoker used to smoke opium. He needs some money to buy opium. He gets an idea when he saw crying mother. Therefore, he buy the king of coarse paper made from paper mulberry pulp in Main Kain and he make a Sakka’s cloth, and stick tinsel on the cloth. In the next day, the opium eater goes to the cemetery early, and wears the Sakka’s cloth. After that, he climbs up banyan tree, near the cave of lady daughter. In arrive time, the mother cries at her daughter’s cave, bringing flowers and foods. The opium eater, “Shun Shun” shakes the branches of banyan tree. The mother, “Oh the king of the Devas, where are you from?” asks looking up he head.
The opium smoker, “The king of the Devas, who govern the Tavatimsa* celestial world, is me,” answer with the vice of form of address. The mother asks with great expectation, “The king of the Devas, don’t you know my little daughter?” “I come down to mundane world from the celestial world, cause of I know about her.” “O dear, what kind of case?” “Like this, you put in only fourth money for the ferriage when your daughter dies. It can not buy a pancake in celestial world. Other goddesses celebrate festivity daily, with ornaments what their parents put in. Your daughter is sitting and crying cause of she has not ornaments. Don’t cry, I will tell your mother about you, and I come down in to the mundane world, cause of I pity her. If so, can I give you my daughter’s ornaments.” “Oh, why not, you can, go and bring the ornaments hurriedly.” “Good.” Mother goes back to home quickly and bring a packed of ornaments in the box. And she goes back to the cemetery hurriedly without closing the box of ornaments. “Oh- king of the Devas, take, take, and my daughter’s ornaments, give my daughter please, in there.” “You are rest assured, your daughter must be happy, okay, go back without worry and care.” When mother go back to, the opium eater can be climb down on the banyan tree. Mother returns to village satisfied. Her husband comes back to house from the village, he saw opening the box and losing the packed of ornaments, and he go to cemetery riding a horse. When he meet his wife, she “O dear, you lost the time going round in the village. I met the king of the Devas. I send the ornaments to the daughter with him indirectly.” “Ah! Ah! Where is he?”  “At the cemetery.”
The husband goes to the cemetery riding a horse hurriedly. When he arrives in there, he sees the king of the Devas, who entering in to the bush. He descends and follows the opium eater, after ties the rope of bit of a bridle at the banyan tree. The opium smoker skilful about the forest. And he comes back to the banyan tree after running crookedly. And then, he jumps up the house and runs away. The trader man can not follow to catch him. Therefore, he cries out, “Hey, king of the Devas, tell my daughter, please, that father give you a horse as a present.” That, cause of false of worship, lost both the world of nature and the cycle of death and birth.
Therefore, if men take the true refuge, can get the happiness of man, happiness of gods and happiness of Supreme Being (Brahma)+ after cession of any suffering. In the last life, they realize the Ultimate Reality (Nibbana)*. Therefore, men, steadily, believing that there is nothing other refuge except Three Refuges. And it is very important, to understand and realize the definition of and about Three Refuges, and to take lessons and to makes use of for one’s life until to die.
Therefore, take the safe of your life. Take refuges only the Three Refuges. Take the develop and noble of your life by keeping the Three Gems forever. May your life be beautiful and elegant from time to time!
                                                                                                                     To go on!
